We may never find all the answers to life’s most difficult questions.
Thankfully, a quick code download that points the way to the ones we
really care about: Who the hell unfriended us on Facebook, when and why?
Whatever reason somebody has chosen to un-friend you there is no
alert on Facebook to tell you that you have lost a connection and the
chances are that you will miss the un-friending. And like the
nonexistent “dislike” button, don’t expect such a Facebook application
anytime soon. Back in January, Facebook and Apple dumped the Defriended
iPhone app tracker.
Unfriend Finder
It is a free real-time script compatible with Google Chrome, Safari
and Opera. According to the script page, it’s been downloaded close to
11 million times. The many reviews found there are largely positive,
though even reviewers who like the program cite errors.
There’s nothing terribly surprising or complicated about installing
and using Unfriend Finder. You just download it, install it in your web
browser of choice (assuming your choice is either Chrome, Firefox,
Opera, or Safari), log into Facebook, and let Unfriend Finder do its
job. It’s important to note it’s not retroactive, so you’re not going to
find a bunch of lost friends just by installing it. Instead, install it
now, be patient, and wait for certain “friends” to drop you thinking
you won’t notice. You will, and you’ll be able to some day remind them
of their indiscretion.
While technology can’t untangle the mystery of human relationships,
providing the “who” and “when” may go a long way to helping you figure
out “why” if you correlate your clues with the day’s occurrences.
