Privacy of users has been a major concern over years now on Facebook.
There was lot happening over this and thousands had even quit Facebook
over such issues.
And now with all that promise that Facebook made on enhancing user
privacy also comes a big blow – Rogue Facebook apps could now have
access to your phone number and address. It’s pretty easy to just click “Allow”
and give Farmville (or any number of third-party app swindlers) your
cell number and address. One can imagine how someone can easily scam you
with that information with them.
From now, you better pay a close attention to the dialog boxes that
pops-up when you try add third-party apps to Facebook. If you don’t, you
might end up giving them your address and phone number.
As one of the user status read, “I’m deleting all my personal info now. ugh!!!!!”. This is probably the most rational response, as well as being the best way to protect your personal information.
We can only sit back and wait for what
Facebook will do to tackle this menace. What’s most obvious is that we
now live in a world of decreasing privacy, and Facebook is taking the
lead in pushing us forward into this new age.
Do you agree or disagree with Facebook’s decision to grant developers access to additional user data? Let us know…..
